Medical examiners find possible ID for human skull, other skeletal remains found in parking lot

FLUSHING, Queens (WABC) -- The human skull and other skeletal remains discovered in a Queens parking lot have possibly been identified, according to investigators.

Police say the remains are believed to be 69-year-old Richard "Max" Albright, who disappeared in October 2021. His wallet was also found nearby.

The medical examiner will confirm the skull and other bones are Albright.

"The matter is under investigation, including work by our forensic anthropologists to make an identification," the medical examiner's office said in a statement.

The remains were discovered on Monday.

A city survey crew was working along 20th Avenue when they discovered a male human skull, a leg bone and a hip bone in the parking lot of 134-01 20th Ave. in Flushing before 4 p.m.

The spot is located behind a chain fence, across the street from stores like Target, Home Goods and ShopRite.

It's unclear how long the bones were there or whether foul play is expected.

The investigation is still ongoing.
