Police in Florham Park Police on Tuesday say they've pulled over at least six drivers who hadn't cleaned off their cars before hitting the road.
In New Jersey, the fine for failing to remove snow from your car can range from $25 to $75 per offense.
Each summons requires a mandatory court appearance.
"Drivers should already be aware of the danger this poses to others. This is completely unacceptable and dangerous," according to a statement from Florham Park Police Department and the Office of Emergency Management.
Officials said fines are increased when snow or ice from a moving vehicle strikes another car or pedestrian, causing injury or property damage. Those fines are enhanced if the driver is operating a commercial vehicle.
