More than a hundred mourners came out on Sunday afternoon to drop pink and blue rose petals. Many of them did not know the two victims, but they felt the crush of the tragedy.
Former preschool teacher Lisa Barno remembered Milian Dula when she was only 4 years old.
The young child's body was found after three agonizing days - a search that ended about a half a mile down the river from where she disappeared.
The other victim, a 10-year-old boy, was discovered Wednesday night, shortly after help arrived. He died a hero, pushing his 11-year-old sister to the rocks so she could escape the raging waters - but he was not able to find his footing.
Many who did not know the children personally came to feel the loss and weep with the family to show them they are not alone.
