FORDHAM, The Bronx (WABC) -- Multiple NYPD officers were struck by a suspect in a stolen vehicle in the Bronx.

Officials say the officers were tracking the silver Kia Sportage on East Fordham Road around 6 p.m. Sunday. The car, with New Jersey plates, was reported stolen the day before and officers were alerted by a license plate reader that the stolen car was detected.

Unmarked police cars surrounded the car after it pulled over and officers then told the driver and passenger to exit the vehicle. The driver then started to drive back and forth recklessly, hitting a police sergeant who was standing outside the car. Multiple other officers were also struck. They were all taken to area hospitals in stable condition.

Another officer then jumped on top of the Kia and shot the 18-year-old driver in the arm. He was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition. The passenger in the car is in custody.

Officials say the driver was arrested back in February 2026 for shooting another man in the same precinct and was charged with multiple felonies. Now, the teen is facing additional charges.
