N, Q service resumes between Manhattan, Queensboro Plaza

Thursday, September 25, 2014
NEW YORK (WABC) -- A rail condition during the height of rush hour Thursday created a commuting nightmare for riders who take the N and Q subway lines between Manhattan and Queens.

The incident happened near the Lexington Avenue-59th Street station and prompted a service suspension between 57th Street-7th Avenue and Queensboro Plaza in both directions.

Shuttle train service operated between Queensboro Plaza and Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard in both directions, and southbound R trains were running on the F line from Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue to 57th Street-7th Avenue.

But that was little consolation to riders who spent upwards of an hour trapped in packed cars waiting to arrive at a station to switch trains.

Service resumed with residual delays just before 8:45 a.m.
