CLIFTON, New Jersey (WABC) -- Police are searching for the suspects who broke into a Clifton home on Saturday morning while people inside were sleeping.

It happened just before 6 a.m. at a home on E. Fourth St.

When officers responded to the home, they found a locked window had been forced open and the suspects entered several rooms, including the bedrooms where the residents were asleep.

When the residents heard noises and started to investigate, the burglars took off.

The suspects got away with jewelry and the key to a vehicle, but the vehicle was not stolen.

Due to evidence recovered at the scene, police believe multiple people were involved in the burglary.

Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at 973-470-5908.
