LOWER EAST SIDE (WABC) -- Its two worlds some assume could never collide; Hasidic women and rock and roll music.

Fans of Bulletproof Stockings jammed at Arlene's Grocery on the Lower East Side Thursday night, minus any men.

"It was amazing to see an all-women's gathering and a concert it was awesome to see," said Soshana Cohen, a fan, "I kind of like it, no judgments, you get to do whatever you want. It was a lot of fun."

"When I took on orthodoxy I felt uncomfortable going to shows because men squeezing up against people, you don't know. I felt like I really couldn't express myself and have a good time, but this is a good opportunity to do that," said Alanna Duskin, a fan.

The band only performs for women, because their religious beliefs only allow husbands and family members to hear them sing.

Bulletproof Stockings has only performed at universities and private shows since they formed the band two and half years ago.

Thursday night was their highest profile performance.

Their fans enjoy not being bothered by men.

"We're here to support the idea of having an all women concert in a regular rock venue which is great," said Rivka Teish, a fan.

"We follow them around wherever they go and we just love rocking out with them," said Yehudis Bartfield, a fan.

They are shooting a documentary and hoping to spread their reach, not including men.
