Nude photos scandal rocks Pennsylvania high school

Saturday, March 28, 2015
LANSDALE, Pa. -- Towamencin Police say they are conducting a joint investigation with the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office over allegations that high school boys were posting nude and semi-nude photos of their female classmates online.

The North Penn School District made the revelation on Friday that the incident involving North Penn High School students is being investigated.

Students tell Action News that several students were involved.

They say it originated as a group chat where boys would trade nude photos like Pokmon cards.

Students say the boys posted photos of their female high school classmates on multiple Dropbox accounts.

Dropbox is an app that allows you to share items from your computer on mobile devices.

Other girls at the school are upset for the sake of the victims.

Some started a webpage calling for a walkout from the school during fifth period for two reasons.

Their first reason they say is to show they are outraged that the boys allegedly responsible would do this.

Their other reason is to ensure that the school doesn't try to sweep things under the rug.

School district officials wouldn't speak on camera but did issue a statement on their website which reads:

This week, NPSD administration came to understand that there is considerable discussion among some high school students about allegations that students of our school community may have shared inappropriate pictures and videos via an online format. Please know that NPSD and local law enforcement officials are working together on this matter and take alleged activities such as these very seriously. Please know that investigations such as these often take time to thoroughly complete. It is very important that anyone with any knowledge, which would contribute to an investigation of such activity directly, contact his or her local police department. Also, please join us in reminding your student the importance of not becoming involved in the online sharing of inappropriate content.

Authorities are investigating but no word on whether charges, if any, will be filed.
