Police say they appeared first at a location near Broadway around 10 a.m. They were looking to confiscate counterfeit bags and wound up seizing a total of 26 items.
The officers were still on scene when federal agents appeared. The NYPD says it had no prior knowledge the agents were coming, and they left.
Police arrested one person for the counterfeit goods.
The federal action comes one day after Mayor-elect Mamdani met with President Trump at the White House.
"If they need it, now other places need it more but if they need it, we had a very good meeting yesterday and we talked about that, but if they need it, I would do it," said Trump.
The Department of Homeland Security released a statement about Saturday's arrest by ICE agents. It says they detained an undocumented immigrant from Senegal for counterfeiting - an immigrant the NYPD previously arrested twice.
He was released from NYPD custody before ICE could detain him.
