Woman killed in early morning hit-and-run crash in Queens

CORONA, Queens (WABC) -- A woman was killed in an apparent hit-and-run crash in Corona early Saturday, and the driver fled the scene, according to police.

The collision happened around 1:33 a.m. near 57th Avenue and 99th Street. Police said the victim, an unidentified woman, was found in the roadway with severe trauma to her head and body.

Investigators said a gray Ford was traveling northbound on 99th Street when it struck the pedestrian. The driver did not remain at the scene.

The woman was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

No arrests have been announced. The investigation is ongoing.
