It happened on East 169th Street around 7 p.m.
The teen was walking to the playground at the time of the incident. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.
As police were responding to the scene, an officer's cruiser swerved out of the way of another vehicle and slammed into a storefront on Webster Avenue.
The officers were taken to the hospital and were said to be stable.
A relative of the teen who was hurt said he was not the intended target and was walking with two younger cousins he had just picked up from his grandmother's house.
"Bullets don't know names, color, gender, age -- that's unacceptable," his aunt said.
So far no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
