Person of interest in custody after 2 men stabbed on Upper West Side

UPPER WEST SIDE, Manhattan (WABC) -- A person of interest is in custody after two men were stabbed on the Upper West Side on Thursday afternoon, and police sources believe the attacks were random.

The stabbings began at 84th and Central Park West where a 57-year-old was stabbed in the torso around 1:30 p.m.

The second stabbing, of a 50-year-old man, occurred at 86th and Amsterdam.

Both victims were taken to the hospital.

One victim was initially listed in critical condition, but now both victims are expected to be OK.



Police are looking into whether the suspect used a blade and a screwdriver in the attack.

Authorities are investigating the motive, but say the attacks appear unprovoked.
