Pedestrian hit, killed by LIRR train; service restored

BETHPAGE, N.Y. (WABC) -- A pedestrian was struck and killed in Bethpage by a Long Island Rail Road train, suspending service in both directions between Ronkonkoma and Hicksville.

The person, described by the MTA as a "trespasser" tracks was struck by a train east of Bethpage LIRR station.

Service was restored around 7:30 a.m.

Customers should anticipate delays and cancellations. Commuters were encouraged to use the Montauk or Port Jefferson branches.
