He was caught on surveillance camera, and several tips to CrimeStoppers led detectives to the suspect.
He was arraigned Thursday morning on third-degree robbery charges and is being held on $15,000 bail.
He has two prior arrests this year, including for criminal contempt on February 14 and for acting in a manner injurious to a child under 17 on January 27.
People in the neighborhood were shocked.
"It's a little surprising," one area resident said. "I thought it was a joke at first until when I overheard all the police officers coming in, I realized it was something serious."
No injuries were reported.
