Officers responded to 2183 Ocean Parkway in the Gravesend section of Brooklyn just before 6 p.m. for reports of a vehicle collision involving two pedestrians.
Police said a 2026 Acura Integra sedan was traveling northbound on Ocean Parkway approaching Avenue V, when it came into contact with a two-wheeled vehicle with an 11-year-old on board.
The 11-year-old was struck by the Acura, which then fled the scene and was found abandoned on Ocean Parkway, police said.
The driver fled on foot, police said.
The impact from the collision was so violent that debris that was dislodged by the Acura when it came into contact with the 11-year-old, struck and injured a 25-year-old male.
EMS transported the child and the 25-year-old to Maimonides Medical Center, where the child is in critical condition, police said.
The 25-year-old is expected to recover and has since been released from the hospital, police said.
Neighbors say speeding in the area has been a problem.
"I personally bike around a lot around this area," said Henry, a neighbor. "I always see cars tend to speed up and down, cutting the lights, too."
No arrests have been made.
The investigation is ongoing.
