Police search for driver in Freeport hit-and-run that left man critically injured

FREEPORT, New York (WABC) -- Police are searching for a driver involved in a hit-and-run that left a 66-year-old man critically injured on Long Island.

Nassau County police say the man was crossing Merrick Road in Freeport around 8:10 p.m. Wednesday when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle that fled the scene.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition.

Anyone with information is asked to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or 911.
