Herbal supplement recalled after FDA analysis finds undeclared active ingredient in Viagra

Sunday, March 15, 2026
NEW YORK (WABC) -- An herbal supplement is being recalled over concerns that it may contain an active ingredient found in Viagra that could interfere with other medications.

Primal Supplements has issued a voluntary recall for its product called Primal Herbs Volume. Laboratory analysis conducted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration confirmed the supplement contains sildenafil, an active ingredient in Viagra.

The FDA says that sildenafil was not listed on the supplement product label.

The undeclared ingredient may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs and lower a person's blood pressure to dangerous levels. People with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or heart disease often take nitrates in their medication.

Customers who bought the supplement between July 2, 2025 and Sept. 19, 2025 are urged to stop using the product and contact the company for a replacement or credit.

You can read more about the recall on the FDA's website.
