At least 9 injured after car crashes into bus, jumps curb and slams into bus stop in Queens

SOUTH OZONE PARK, Queens (WABC) -- At least nine people were injured following a crash involving a car and a bus in Queens on Thursday.

It happened on Liberty Avenue and Lefferts Boulevard in South Ozone Park just after 7 p.m.

Police say several pedestrians were struck at the location, and at least nine people were injured.



A 79-year-old woman was making a left turn from Liberty Avenue to Lefferts Boulevard. To avoid a collision with a stopped Q10 bus, she allegedly veered onto the sidewalk, striking the side of the bus and the bus shelter.



Fortunately, police say none of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries.

Police said four people waiting at the bus stop were injured, including an 18-year-old woman, two 66-year-old women and a 70-year-old woman.

Two people on the bus, a 34-year-old man and a 38-year-old man were also injured.

Three people inside a Ford Explorer were also injured, including a 79-year-old woman, a 78-year-old woman and a 69-year-old woman.

Police said they all went to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition.



The investigation is ongoing.
