New Jersey Route 17 wreck leads to fuel spill, closes lanes

Wednesday, November 5, 2014
MAHWAH, N.J. (WABC) -- Northbound lanes of one section of Route 17 closed for about an hour after a tractor-trailer wreck and fuel spill.

Just before Route 287 around 6 a.m., a tractor-trailer appears to have slammed into the back of a construction vehicle that appeared to be picking up cones from an overnight project.

The crash ruptured a fuel tank which then spilled on the road.

Most northbound lanes are closed. The right lane is open; all southbound lanes remain open.

There is no word on injuries.
