NEW BRUNSWICK (WABC) -- Rutgers apologized to Penn State for crass references fans made during Saturday's game about the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal.
Some fans were wearing t-shirts that read "Beat Ped State". One held a sign showing stick figures of a man and a boy in a sex act.
Monday night, Rutgers Athletic Director Julie Hermann issued a statement saying,
"I would like to apologize equally to the Penn State University fans, as well as Rutgers fans that were subjected to this classless display. That does not represent the ethos of our university, athletic department, or fan base.
