STAMFORD (WABC) -- The CEO of a Connecticut food and beverage is under fire after he was caught on camera kicking a dog in an elevator.

The incident happened in Vancouver, British Columbia, where Des Hague was visiting from Stamford.

The 46-year-old Hague is the the CEO of Centerplate, which counts professional sports teams among its clients. The company has contracts with nine NFL teams and three MLB teams, as well NHL, NBA and MLS teams.

Hague was seen on the surveillance video kicking the dog, which belongs to a friend, several times and pulling it by the leash as he walked off the elevator.

He has admitted that it was him on the elevator and issued a statement apologizing for his actions, which he calls completely out of character.

He added that he is ashamed and embarrassed.

Still, fans of Canadian football team BC Lions are calling on the officials to drop the contract with his catering company over the video.

Authorities removed the dog from the 39th-floor apartment where Hague was staying.
