FDNY firefighter honored in walkout ceremony after two-week-long hospital stay

STATEN ISLAND, New York (WABC) -- FDNY firefighters, family and friends came together for a walkout ceremony on Thursday, to celebrate the release of a firefighter from the hospital.

Probationary firefighter Christopher Dorato of Engine 167 seriously injured his leg on Jan. 31 while battling a fire on Staten Island.

Dorato underwent five surgeries in his nearly two-week-long stay at the Staten Island University Hospital North.



He is now finally home with his family.
