NEW YORK CITY -- Move over, man of steel. "Supergirl" is flying into theaters in her first feature film in more than 40 years.

Milly Alcock steps into the role of Kara Zor-El...aka Superman's cousin, though she might not be the kind of hero you'd expect from the House of El.

"Have you seen anybody dressed up as you yet?" Entertainment Reporter Joelle Garguilo asked.

"Kind of, it was a few months ago," Alcock said. "I was going for a run. I saw this little girl on a bike with this sweater, and I was trying not to cry."

"Did you stop?" Garguilo asked.

"No, there was no promotion out," Alcock said. "But I was just saw that and I was kind of like, 'Oh my god. Wow. This is, like young girls are gonna see this film, and that's gonna be so fulfilling.'"

The movie follows Supergirl as she reluctantly joins forces with an unlikely companion, setting out on an interstellar journey of vengeance and justice.

Director Craig Gillespie said what's so wonderful about this film is that it follows a female hero who is complex and flawed.

Alcock said she wishes she had this film when she was a young girl.

"I think it would have made me feel more OK with who I am and how I'm flawed," Alcock said.
