NORTH LINDENHURST, Long Island (WABC) -- A driver lost control of his Jeep, careening through two sets of fences and crashing through an above-ground pool in the backyard of a Long Island home Wednesday.

The driver lost control on a curve at East June Street and North Wellwood Avenue in North Lindenhurst around 11:40 p.m.

"All of a sudden I heard a big bang, not screeching tires or anything, I just heard a really loud bang," neighbor Robert Larschan said. "He was yelling for help, you know, 'Help me, help me.' I said, 'I'm on the phone with the EMS team.'"

The driver crashed through the front yard fence and then the backyard fence of the same house.

"I'm listening, a big noise, maybe explosion, I don't know," homeowner Ted Polak said.

The SUV finally smashed through an above-ground pool before coming to rest in the backyard.

"When I first came outside, it was completely silent," neighbor Nicole Larschan said "After I saw the car with the flashers on in the back, and I was like, I hope everything is OK."

The driver was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with minor injuries.
