NEW YORK CITY (WABC) -- Taylor Swift paid the City of New York $160,000 to cover the cost of resources used during her wedding at Madison Square Garden, Mayor Zohran Mamdani said Friday.

"Taylor Swift has paid already the cost of the permit that was lodged, which was over $160,000 for that event and for the response to that event, and that was a permit that was finalized, I think, in just the days before the event itself," Mamdani said.

The wedding required a permit for street closures and traffic management.

The NYPD deployed dozens of officers.

The event was attended by hundreds of celebrities, athletes and close friends and family.

The wedding came during an already busy summer for New York City, which has hosted the the New York Knicks first championship in 53 years, the FIFA World Cup and the nation's 250th anniversary.

Mamdani called it a "number of what are both historical and generational events."
