"La Borinqueña" made her debut at the National Puerto Rican Day Parade in 2016 and has evolved from a comic book star into a cultural phenomenon, from museum exhibits, action figures, and her own superhero universe.
She is a nationwide symbol of Puerto Rican patriotism, representation and social justice.
We'll talk to our good friend Edgardo Miranda Rodriguez about the past ten years and where "La Borinqueña" is headed next.
We're also going to discuss the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Cuba.
The U.S. Department of Justice formally indicted former Cuban President Raul Castro on criminal charges.
The charges stem from a 1996 shootdown of two civilian plans operated by the Miami-based exile group "Brothers to the Rescue."
This comes in the midst of rising tensions between the U.S. and Cuba. Cubans are currently living through fuel shortages and blackouts.
Joining us is Vito Echevarria, a former journalist with cubastandard.com.
