TIMES SQUARE, Manhattan (WABC) -- One person is in custody after a large fight in Times Square on Thursday left one person slashed and others running for cover when shots were fired, according to police.

A 26-year-old man was slashed just before 3:40 p.m. at West 45th Street and Eighth Avenue. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition

In the melee, a 17-year-old allegedly fired the shots, and was taken into police custody. Charges against him are pending.

Nobody was struck by the gunfire.

Earth Cam footage shows a group of men at the location. One of them, dressed in black, appeared to be pointing a gun before running off.

One weapon was recovered.

It's not immediately clear how the slashing and the gunshots are related.
