Two girls accused of vandalizing Bronx laundromat

SOUNDVIEW (WABC) -- Mischief at the Laundromat culminated with kicks to the window. Two kicks was all it took to break the glass. When the incident started, two girls took off running.

Juan Sapeg owns the laundromat on St. Lawrence Street in the Bronx - the one with the gaping hole in the front window.
"They wanted to come in and vandalize the place," says Sapeg.

Sapeg says his surveillance cameras captured the culprits in the act - teenage girls causing mayhem Tuesday night. It all started with them repeatedly ringing the bell inside the laundromat. At one point, they even grabbed a mop and started playing with it.

"The lady threatened to call the police to get them out because they didn't want to leave, and they went outside, left and broke the windows," adds Sapeg.
Fortunately no one was hurt. Sapeg says he called the police, and they are investigating. He says teens harassing business owners in Soundview is nothing new, but that it needs to stop.

It will cost more than $500 to repair the broken window, but it is not about the money, it is about teaching others that this behavior cannot be tolerated.

"I'm hoping the authorities will get a hold of these girls and have the parents pay for the damages. They should get some help because they really need some help," says Sapeg.
