Woman dead, 2 others hurt in Newark house fire

NEWARK, New Jersey (WABC) -- A house fire claimed the life of a woman and injured two other people in Newark early Saturday morning.

Fire crews raced to the raging blaze consuming a multi-family home at 282 Schley Street just after 3:00 a.m.

One woman lost her life in the smoke and flames.

She was pronounced dead at Newark Beth Israel Hospital.

Two others are in critical condition.



The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation.
