MASSAPEQUA, New York (WABC) -- A 22-year-old woman was arrested in the fatal stabbing of a man in Massapequa on Monday.

According to police, they got a 911 call around 1:30 a.m. Monday.

By the afternoon, Beaumont Avenue remained closed off by police tape on both ends as investigators appeared to be focusing on a house toward the middle of this street.

The 28-year-old man was allegedly found stabbed in the neck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman fled the scene at the time according to sources, but there was news of an arrest by the afternoon.

"I was panicking. It was definitely something large. There was a lot going on and then once the helicopter showed up I knew that's never a good thing," said Janine Cassarino, a neighbor.

"I was standing with the kids, brother-in-law, and he told me right away, I think it's my brother-in-law," said Anthony Boccia, a neighbor.

Neighbors told Eyewitness News that they believe it is a man who lives on the block who was killed.
