BROWNSVILLE, Brooklyn (WABC) -- Corrine Sparks says her sister will survive. Tytiana Sparks is 19 years old and is five months pregnant and was shot in the head just steps from her home. It all happened in broad daylight.

Her mother says Tytiana had just left the local laundromat with a small group of friends.

Neighbors heard the shots and came running - many returning home from Sunday church services.

"She was lying between two cars," says neighbor, Louis Leak.

Tytiana was slumped on the pavement and a relative was kneeling over her body.

Crime scene investigators worked into the early evening hours, gathering evidence, but it was not immediately clear who shot the girl or why. Sources tell Eyewitness News that the bullets may have been intended for someone else.

"She's five months pregnant - the baby is okay," says Tytiana's mother, Ruth Sparks.

Tytiana's family wants answers, but they are relieved that she is expected to pull through.
