2 workers rescued after porch collapse in Laurelton

LAURELTON, Queens (WABC) -- Two workers were rescued after the front porch of a house collapsed on them in Queens.

It happened Tuesday at a single family home at 135-40 229 St. before 10 a.m.

They were performing excavation work at the home when they became pinned by a concrete slab.

Crews used lifesaving tools to push the slabs off the workers.

Both workers were rescued and taken to Jamaica Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Department of Buildings issued violation for failure to maintain the building and a partial vacate order for the front of the house.

The investigation is ongoing.
