The victim, Maria Rodriguez, was struck at the corner of 107th Avenue and 86th Street in the Woodhaven section at around 7:25 a.m.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Four children, all younger than 12, were on the bus at the time of the crash. None were injured.
The victim was returning home from dropping off her grandchildren when she was struck. Her older grandson said she was from the Bronx and was staying with her daughter in Queens.
She normally walked all the grandkids to school.
Rodriguez was not in the crosswalk when she was hit.
The 47-year-old bus driver, identified as Maria Marte, has been charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care.
Marte was issued a desk appearance ticket and must appear in court November 30.
