Authorities responded to a home on Inwood Drive in Spring Valley just before 9 a.m. for a report of gunshots and a woman lying on the ground.

Officers found the 56-year-old woman unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds. Sources say the shooting appeared to be domestic.
The victim was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The victim has yet to be identified, though she was known to some in the neighborhood as "Peaches." According to neighbors, she lived in the home with her adult son and daughter.
A search for the suspect, identified as 53-year-old Lawrence Byrd, then followed.
Around 1:45 p.m. police were alerted that the suspect was possibly in Stamford, Connecticut. About two hours later, just before 4 p.m., an individual matching the suspect's description was seen walking from 300 Tresser Blvd.
Officers followed the individual and approached him on Canal Street at South State Street underneath an MTA train overpass.
According to Stamford Police, as a patrol officer exited their vehicle, the suspect took out a firearm and shot himself once and collapsed.
Officers immediately rendered aid and CPR, and rushed him to Stamford Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation is ongoing.
