Beachgoers made their way to Coney Island to soak in the sunny skies and 80-plus degree conditions.

However not many people were tempted to to go into the water -- still a chilly 54 degrees. Meanwhile, the boardwalk was packed with residents from all over New York City and tourists too, even all the way from Scotland.
"About 10 degrees and wet," said the beachgoer from Scotland when asked what the weather was like in the country right now. "We've been here before but the weather was never as good as it is today."
Red flags were also in place, meaning no swimming was allowed. And no lifeguards were on duty with public beaches across the city still officially closed until Memorial Day weekend.

Luna Park will remain open till 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. It will reopen in May on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Over in New Jersey, Eyewitness News reporter Michelle Charlesworth caught plenty of people who trekked to Avon-by-the-Sea to enjoy the warm conditions.

Some said they were making a plan for this day for at least a week since they've known that it was gonna be gorgeous out, while others called an audible this morning.
"I thought it would be chillier down by the beach," said one beachgoer. "You've got this nice breeze, but not too much. It's humid but nice though."
