Man wanted in Bronx attempted rape, police say

SOUNDVIEW, Bronx (WABC) -- Police are looking for a man wanted in an attempted rape in the Bronx.

At 1 a.m. on Sunday, a woman was walking near Westchester and Metcalf avenues when someone approached her from behind.

According to the New York City Police Department, he put a knife to her neck and took her pocketbook. He then pulled her into an alleyway and put his hand inside her skirt and underwear.

The victim screamed and the man fled. The victim went to Jacobi Hospital.

The suspect is described as a black man, about 20-25 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 11 inches, and 170-190 pounds. He has a dark complexion, and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
