Livery driver injured after apparent shooting, crash in Spring Valley

SPRING VALLEY, New York (WABC) -- A livery car crashed after an apparent shooting in Spring Valley in Rockland County on Monday.

Police on the scene are investigating what exactly happened to the driver of the vehicle.

It's a taxi owned by American Latina Taxis.

The initial reports were that the car had driven into a tree on West Eckerson Road around 3:09 p.m.

The air bag deployed, but when police got there they determined pretty quickly that the 23-year-old man driving the taxi had been shot.

Police don't yet know how the driver was shot or by whom.

The driver was treated at the scene by Spring Hill Ambulance Corp. and then transported to Nyack Hospital. He was subsequently transferred to Westchester Medical Center.

Further details on his condition are not yet known.
