The incident happened around 10:15 p.m. inside the family's home located at 30 Blythe Place.
When officers arrived at the scene they found a 62-year-old woman, identified as Xiao-Qiong Jing, with a stab wound to her stomach, her husband, 71-year-old man Ming Chen, with a stab wound to his stomach, and their 41-year-old son with cut to his left leg.
The woman was taken to Staten Island North Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Both the husband and adult son were taken to Staten Island University Hospital in stable condition.
Police say the father stabbed his wife to death, and their son was injured while trying to intervene during the incident.
Chen has been charged with murder, assault, menacing, and criminal possession of a weapon.
