NEW YORK (WABC) -- There are more than 67,000 migrants in the New York City shelter system. This is a dramatic increase from the number we saw last year at this time at 21,300.

Additionally, the first wave of families with children who have been in the city shelter system for 60 days will be forced to leave next month - unless they reapply and are approved for housing.

More than 3,000 families received 60-day notices since the city announced its latest policy order in October.

Migrants with no children are already subject to 30-day limits.

In a special one-on-one, anchor and Tiempo host Joe Torres sits with Mayor Eric Adams to discuss some of the most urgent concerns revolving the ever-growing migrant crisis in New York City.
Mayor Adams also addressed the limited housing for the migrants as well as education and food concerns.
