CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn (WABC) -- A family is in mourning after a mother of four was shot and killed outside a barbershop in Crown Heights on Thursday night.

Bullets hit the 54-year-old woman several times in the chest.

A 30-year-old man was shot in the arm and is expected to survive.

Both victims were rushed to Kings County Hospital where the woman died.

"My mom was a courageous woman, resilient, loved her kids, she would do anything for us," said Janse Joseph, the victim's son. "It's sad she didn't know how much I loved her."

Limose Dort's son says his mother was walking home from work as a home health aide and passed in front of the Image Barber Shop on St. John's Place near Rochester Avenue in Crown Heights when the gunman opened fire.

"This is her usual route around the same time every day," Joseph said. "She just happened to be in the wrong place."

He lived with his mother near the shooting scene and says they just moved to the U.S. from Haiti three years ago.

His three siblings are still in Haiti.

He had been concerned about the violence in the neighborhood and has a message for the gunman.

"Think about your mom, think about your family, how much they mean to you, it's the same thing for everybody," Joseph said. "You killed my mom, there's no way I'm going to get her back."

So far, no arrests have been made.

Police are investigating if the 30-year-old man was the intended target.

He's not cooperating with detectives.
