Barclays Center concession workers reach tentative agreement, avert strike

NEW YORK CITY (WABC) -- Concession workers at Barclays Center reached a tentative agreement on Monday night, averting a strike that could've impacted events at the arena, including those of rap star Drake, who just began his four-day run there.

UNITE Here Local 100, the union that represents the venue's bartenders, servers and cooks, announced the tentative agreement.

The union had been calling for better wages and benefits.



They were asking for an increase in hourly wages across the board, an increase that would boost the lowest starting wage to $20 an hour.



Contract talks took place between the concession workers and the management company, Levy, which provides concessions at Barclays.

UNITE Here Local 100 says workers and union officials will share the details of the tentative agreement on Tuesday morning.
