JACKSON HEIGHTS, Queens (WABC) -- Police released surveillance photos of a suspected predator wanted in the attack of an 11-year-old girl on her way to the grocery in Queens.

Authorities say the suspect grabbed the girl around 8:45 a.m. Sunday as she was walking near 86th Street and Northern Boulevard.

That is when he allegedly grabbed her from behind by the neck, dragged her into an ally, put a metal object to her throat and made sexually threatening statements and asked for her age.

At one point, the man allegedly told the girl not to tell anyone or he would rape or kill her.

The man then robbed the girl of her keys, $20 and her reusable grocery bag. He ran away northbound on 86th Street.

The victim suffered a cut to her throat and was taken to the hospital.

On Wednesday, the young victim's father said she is not doing well. She had only made it a few doors down from her home when she was attacked.

Thankfully a good Samaritan heard her screams.

"My reaction was to help the girl, I can't say anything else," Mariam said.

Mariam ran outside to find the girl on the ground and knew what he had to do.

"To help her, I helped her, the girl threw herself at me to help her, that's all I did, I could not catch him," Mariam said.
