MILL BASIN, Brooklyn (WABC) -- Three teenagers are facing charges in connection with the shooting at the Kings Plaza Mall in Brooklyn Monday.

Police say 19-year-old Timothy Briggs fired the shots that struck two teens, ages 14 and 16, inside the mall.

He was in possession of a weapon when he was apprehended.

Also arrested was 19-year-old Jaheim Covington, who police say was also armed. Both he and Briggs have prior gun arrests.

A third teen arrested, an 18-year-old, does not appear to have any criminal history until now.

All three were taken into custody a few blocks from the mall after the gunfire erupted around 2:30 p.m., sending shoppers scrambling for safety.

The 16-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to his leg, while the 14-year-old suffered a grazed wound to his leg.

They were both to taken Maimonides Hospital in stable condition.

The shooting erupted after authorities say two groups got into a fight, and that it appears to be gang-related.

Briggs allegedly fired in the direction of the other group and struck the two victims.

"There were probably upwards of 10 shots fired by this individual," NYPD Brooklyn South Commanding Officer Assistant Chief Michael Kemper said. "It's just outrageous. Super reckless."

Briggs was out on $25,000 bail on a previous arrest for reckless driving, reckless endangerment and gun possession on November 16, when police say he was pulled over for improper tint on his vehicle in Brooklyn.

He allegedly led police on a high-speed chase through Coney Island, when he blew "a quantity of red lights, swerved in and out of lanes on the belt parkway and onto the opposite side of traffic"

Two loaded firearms and a high capacity magazine were discovered in his vehicle. His license has been suspended five times.

Covington was arrested for a shooting in 2019 when he was 17. He was treated as a youthful offender in that case and is scheduled to be sentenced later this month.
