16-year-old shot, killed at busy intersection on Lower East Side of Manhattan

LOWER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (WABC) -- A teenager was shot and killed after gunfire rang out near a busy intersection in Manhattan Friday night.

Police say they found a 16-year-old boy lying in the street with a gunshot wound to his face near the intersection of Delancey Street and Suffolk Street on the Lower East Side around 8:30 p.m.

He was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he he was pronounced dead.

Another victim, of an unknown age, walked into Beth Israel Hospital with a gunshot wound to his hip, he is expected to survive.


Police blocked off the scene, which was right in front of an AT&T store.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
