Passengers at JFK, Newark Liberty and LaGuardia airports might have to pay up to $89 a day.
As airports are experiencing an unexpected spike in air travel demands this summer, there is a huge strain on airport parking lots.

A Port Authority survey indicates that about 38% of passengers take a car to the airport.
Port Authority is advising travelers to reserve parking prior to their travel date when using the region's three airports to ensure a lower rate.

Travelers are also advised to consider using mass transit, since parking spots may fill up.
Alec Slacky, spokesperson for AAA, said travel is booming and that's contributing to the higher parking costs.
"We're having a really good year for travel," he said. "That means there's going to be more demand at these parking facilities."
Slacky said people should book ahead to get the lower price for a reserved parking spot. The other option is to take public transportation to the airport or park off-site.
Many hotels and commercial parking lots around the airports offer reduced parking, but you will have to take a shuttle to the airport. Slacky said make sure to check the shuttle schedules and leave yourself plenty of extra travel time.
Slacky said most travelers already do a lot of bargain hunting when booking travel - looking for cheap flights and rental cars.
"I would say do the exact same behavior when it comes to figuring out how you're going to get to the airport," he said.
Revenue collected for parking services will be placed into a general fund that is used for construction and infrastructure.
