Woman's body found inside box in Brooklyn apartment, son charged with murder

PROSPECT-LEFFERTS GARDENS, Brooklyn (WABC) -- A woman's body was found inside a box in her Brooklyn apartment on Friday. Her son has now been charged with murder.

Police made the discovery while responding to a 911 call on Linden Boulevard in Prospect Lefferts Gardens.

The 67-year-old woman, identified as Shirley Awer, shared the apartment with her 30-year-old son, David Drummond.

Drummond was arrested and later charged with murder.



Police have not determined the cause of death, but say there were signs of trauma on her body.
