Body of teen swept away by surf found off Coney Island

CONEY ISLAND, Brooklyn (WABC) -- Officials recovered a body that was found off of Coney Island.

Authorities say the body was found around 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

On Sunday morning, New York City Councilman Justin Brannan posted on social media that the body belonged to a teen who was swept away on Thursday afternoon.

The teen and his 14-year-old brother were playing in shallow water by a jetty when they got swept away by a current.



Witnesses pulled the younger boy to safety.
