NYCHA worker dies after being shot in the head in the Bronx

LONGWOOD, The Bronx (WABC) -- A 49-year-old man was killed after being shot in the head in the Bronx.

It happened next to a playground near the intersection of Jackson Avenue and East 156th Street in Longwood around 4:15 p.m. Friday.

The victim was rushed to Lincoln hospital in critical condition, where he would later be pronounced dead.

Nine-millimeter shell casings litter the streets.

"I hear when the guy was shooting, you know -- it was five...gunshots," saod construction worker Edgar Marcial.

Witnesses say the victim was shot and killed by two young men on a black and white motorized scooter.

No words were exchanged before the gunfire.



Police say the victim was a NYCHA employee. It is unclear if he was on or off duty at the time of the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.
