2 NYPD officer taken to hospital after firing shots at gunman in the Bronx

MORRISANIA, Bronx (WABC) -- Two officers were taken to the hospital after exchanging gunfire with a suspect in the Bronx Tuesday.

Police say two NYPD officers were on East 166th Street and Third Avenue in the Morrisania section around 5:25 p.m. when they discovered a man with a gun.

The officers engaged the suspect, who fired one shot at the officers.

Both officers returned fire. It's unknown how many shots they fired.

No one was injured in the incident. Both officers were taken to a nearby hospital with Tinnitus.

The suspect fled from the scene. No arrests have been made so far.
