Police say 63-year-old Nazmul Ahsan was walking along 73rd Street and Broadway in Jackson Heights around 7:20 p.m. when he was struck by the bus.
The bus, operated by a 54-year-old man, was traveling westbound along Broadway with the green traffic signal in its favor.

Police say that as the bus entered the crosswalk, the pedestrian began to cross Broadway in the east crosswalk, walking from north to south against the pedestrian signal.
As a result, the bus hit with the front bumper, knocking him the pavement.
Ahsan was rushed to NYC Health & Hospitals/Elmhurst, where he was pronounced deceased.
The MTA bus remained at the scene, and the vehicle operator was not injured.
There are no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.
